CE Marking to BS EN 1090-1:2009+A1:2011

From 1st July 2013, the Construction Products Directive was replaced by the Construction Products Regulation 305/2011/EU. This means it is mandatory for all construction products covered by a harmonized standard or European technical assessment (such as steel beam or columns) to be CE marked to demonstrate that it has been manufactured to a standard and a set of procedures agreed by member states of the European Union and European Economic Area.

From 1st July 2014, all fabricated structural steelwork will also have to be CE marked, which means all structural steelwork projects must now have their specifications amended accordingly to ensure only CE marked products are used.

In view of this, we are pleased to announce that following our assessment by the Steel Construction Certification Scheme we are now certified to CE Mark structural steelwork in accordance with the Construction Products Regulation product standard BS EN 1090-1:2009+A1:2011: Requirements for conformity assessment of structural components.

Our scope covers the supply of structural steel to Execution Class 2 (Exc2), with a declaration of performance (DoP) provided for all our structural beam.

What key assurances does Exc2 provide?
